Customers get busy, compare options and sometimes simply forget to respond. A short, helpful follow-up keeps the conversation moving and shows that your business is organized.
When should a contractor follow up?
Confirm receipt within one or two business days, then follow up again several days later if you have not received a response. Adjust the timing for urgent repairs, seasonal work and any decision date the customer mentioned.
- First follow-up: confirm receipt and invite questions
- Second follow-up: check whether the scope or options need clarification
- Final follow-up: politely close the loop while leaving the door open
